The meeting is led by Mindy Kane, AFFM Kinship Navigator. https://affm.net/cares-rsvp/ **PRESENTATION** Presentation on Jr YLAT Melissa is a YLAT facilitator with the University of Southern Maine.    She facilitates YLAT groups in Central Maine as well as Presque Isle along with the Junior YLAT groups in the state.   Melissa helped to design and teach the redesigned RFIT training to all individuals and couples who are becoming licensed in Maine as resource or kinship foster parents.  Before coming to USM, she supported Therapeutic Foster Families throughout southern Maine including leading support groups, and designing training to meet resource families' needs.   Melissa and her husband are resource parents and live in Lisbon Falls with their 6 kids, 2 dogs, and 5 cats.   Melissa will be discussing the new Junior YLAT pop-up groups.  Junior YLAT is for youth ages 11-13 who have experienced at least one day of care in their lives.  It is an opportunity for youth to connect with others, learn leadership skills, and begin to understand their team that supports them while in care and beyond.  Melissa Allen, a YLAT facilitator will lead the group along with several YLAT alumni who will act as support and mentors to the youth attending.  During the pop-up, we will introduce ourselves and practice strategic sharing (learning about what parts of our story to share with others) by doing some favorite YLAT activities.  Youth will also have the opportunity to learn a little about the Youth in Care Bill of Rights and explore what Case Worker and Gals' roles are concerning them.
