Understanding Trauma and Techniques to Tackle It
Presented by Ruth Lyons, PhD
Parents will participate in a discussion about child traumatic stress, differentiate between Big T trauma and little t trauma, and understand each child’s window of tolerance. When children have been exposed to situations where they feared for their lives, believed they could have been injured, witnessed violence, or tragically lost a loved one, they may show signs of traumatic stress. The impact on any given child depends on differing factors; the objective danger, their subjective reaction to the events, and their age and developmental level. Together you will explore effective ways to treat child traumatic stress. Attendees will receive a certificate for 1.5 hours.
