Foster Parent College: Working with Schools

In Working with Schools a panel of foster parents are joined by Karen Jorgenson, former Executive Director of the National Foster Parent Association, and Ginger Gorham, a special education teacher with 30 years of experience in the public schools. Together they discuss the varied challenges foster parents face as they work with their child’s school.

Topics covered include roles and responsibilities, entering a new school, working with the school staff, special education, and parent advocacy. Foster parents will find the many strategies and tips helpful regardless of their child’s placement in the school system.
