SUMMARY:Caring for Children Experienced Trauma & Building a Safe Place-2
  day Training 9/23 & 9/25
DESCRIPTION:Caring for Children Experienced Trauma &amp\; Building a Saf
 e Place-RSVP HERE: https://affm.my.site.com/s/Training?inputSession=Cari
ng\n\nImportant Information About Training Series Completion &amp\; Cert
ificates\n\nThese two trainings are part of a larger trauma-informed tra
ining series for resource parents. While you are encouraged to attend th
e full series\, you may choose to attend only the paired sessions that i
nterest you.\n\nHowever\, to receive a 3hrs certificate for training hou
rs\, you must attend both of the two paired classes.\n\nDAY ONE -Caring
for children who've experienced trauma 9/23/25 6pm-730pm\n\nMany childr
en who enter foster care have experienced trauma that significantly impa
cts their behavior\, development\, and ability to trust others. Without
a clear understanding of how trauma can show up in everyday life\, even
the most well-intentioned caregivers may feel confused\, frustrated\, or
unsure of how to respond.\n\nThis training lays the foundation for trau
ma-informed parenting. It helps resource families recognize trauma as th
e root cause behind many challenging behaviors\, rather than labeling a
child as “bad” or “difficult.” Participants will learn how to re
spond with compassion and effective strategies—rather than punishment
or shame—while supporting attachment and healing\, even when trust has
been broken in the past.\n\nCaregivers will gain tools to help children
rediscover their strengths\, build coping skills\, and move toward emot
ional and relational growth. The training also emphasizes the importance
of caregiver well-being\, acknowledging that this work is both beautifu
l and demanding—and that ongoing support is essential.\n\nBy beginning
with a strong understanding of trauma and its effects\, resource famili
es are empowered to become not just caregivers\, but agents of healing i
 n a child’s life.\n\nDAY TWO - : Building a Safe Place 9/25/25 6pm-73
0pm\n\nFor children who have experienced trauma\, safety isn’t just ab
out locked doors and secure homes—it’s about emotional and psycholog
ical safety. Many children in care live in a state of hypervigilance\, a
lways on alert for danger\, even in environments that are physically saf
 e. Without intentional trauma-informed caregiving\, healing and trust ca
n remain out of reach.\n\nThis training helps resource parents understan
d the critical role of psychological safety—how children may not feel
safe just because they are safe. Caregivers will learn to effectively co
mmunicate safety through consistent\, calming messages that help soothe
a child’s nervous system and foster trust over time.\n\nParticipants w
ill also learn how to recognize and respond to trauma reminders—people
 \, places\, sounds\, or smells that can trigger fear or distress—and h
ow to guide children through those moments with compassion and care.\n\n
By building both physical and emotional safety\, resource families creat
e a secure foundation where children can begin to heal\, grow\, and thri
 ve.
